Matig Manougian writes about himself:
I worked first 2 years in Accad Institute, first year in Aleppo then in Damascus, I used to train students in MCSE lab at the first year, and then in Damascus I taught MCSE, A+ CCNA and Network+ courses, I can not say that teaching or instructing is my favorite job, specially that time when I was looking for more technical experience and knowledge.
At 02 November 2002 I started working at Syriatel as System administrator; I worked there for 3 years where I got a lot of experience of network management and administration and technical knowledge. I used to work most of my time in developing the network and testing, deploying and configuring new services. Working in Syriatel I had the great opportunity to do some big projects here are some of them:
Upgrading the domain to windows 2000 then 2003 Upgrading the Exchange to 2003 (I’m specialized in Exchange 5.5 2000 and 2003 servers) Implementing SMS 2 and SMS 2003 Proxy 2 and upgrading to ISA 2000 then to 2004 Designing and implementing Microsoft services like DNS, DHCP, WINS, SUS, WSUS, Cluster, RAS, certification and others… Installing, configuring HP servers and managing using Proliant Essentials & Insight manager 7 (In addition of managing other manufacturer servers like IBM and Acer) Designing Trend Micro antivirus implementation and keeping the applications up-to-date (in addition to evaluating and trying other antivirus solutions like Symantec and Node 32) Designing and implementing back up strategy and day to day tasks. NOTE: sure I don’t say that there was nobody except me working in Syriatel, but in general my role was designing, testing new services and features, there were big projects (like domain or exchange upgrades) that I worked specially with my supervisor, but in general I’m qualified and familiar with all the mentioned products and projects.
All these and more that made me gather good technical knowledge and experience in designing, supervising and managing network.
Through my study in HND (Higher National Diploma in Computer and Marketing Sciences) I obtained the abilities and the skills of business decision making and judgments, and the capability to think in situations not just as technician.
At December 2004 I had the opportunity to attend CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) CBK Review Seminar, which gave me total different and wider view in security strategies and management and in depth knowledge of security techniques and business continuity plans. After that I prepared for the CISSP exam and passed it. That gave me better view and understanding of security issues (although most of it I used to apply, but studying for CISSP changed my view to these issues). Better abilities to define the needed security needs and required products and tools.
Later I worked in Abu Dhabi for Bayanat Data Processing Systems as Customer Support Engineer. DPS is network supplier and IT solutions provider with Headquarter in Abu Dhabi and office in Dubai. DPS with its specialized Enterprise Networking Division is partner with some “big name” companies in IT field like Cisco, Foundry, Nexans, IBM, SurfControl, StoneSoft, Trend and others…
I can not say that I’m professional with all products Bayanat deals with, but in general I have good idea about them and there abilities and I’m specialized in SurfControl, Trend Micro, StoneSoft, Top Layer, Microsoft and IBM products in addition for Cisco and foundry some categories (like wireless) and Double-Take. In Bayanat I used to handle security products (like Trend Micro, Surf Control, StoneGate, PIX, Double-Take...)
While working with Bayanat I attended to some seminars and courses, for the following companies: SurfControl, Juniper and Cisco
Usually I worked as customer support and presales engineer, designing networks, preparing network needs and implementing and installing products.
After Bayanat I worked with Exceed IT Services and Trainings as IT Technical Consultant, Exceed is Microsoft Gold Partner, working very close to Microsoft top support, maintain, and develop solutions for enterprise customers using Microsoft products.
Generally our customers deal with us to provide complete solution, starting from requirements definitions to design, plan, implement, finalize and fine tuning in addition training the stuff. So we are involved very deeply in enterprise customers networks in UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and other Gulf countries.
Personally I work in Projects section and responsible of Exchange, Live Communications Server (LCS), Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA), Microsoft network services (Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Clustering,…), with there all versions.
I work in general in all phases of the project starting from designing, planning, implementing, and health check and fine tuning… with preparation for all there needs. |
